DOD

Definition of Done

Shared agreement on what 'complete' means for a story.

acronymBusiness & OperationsSenior

When you'd see it: Agile teams, in backlog refinement and sprint planning. The DoD is the shared bar for calling work complete.

Why it matters: The Definition of Done is the team's explicit agreement on what "done" means: tested, reviewed, documented, deployed. It prevents work being called finished when it is only half-finished.

Common mistakes: Leaving the Definition of Done implicit. When "done" is unwritten, everyone assumes a different bar and work bounces back.
