Disaster Recovery

Plans/systems to restore service after a major outage.

acronymCloud & InfrastructureSenior

When you'd see it: Business-continuity planning and audits. DR is the plan for restoring service after a major outage, data-center loss, or ransomware.

Why it matters: DR is how an organization comes back after something big goes wrong, measured by RPO (how much data you can lose) and RTO (how fast you restore). A DR plan that has never been tested usually fails when it is needed.

Common mistakes: Having a DR plan on paper but never running a recovery drill. Untested backups and failovers routinely break on the day they matter.
