Natural Language Generation

Producing fluent, contextually appropriate text from data or prompts.

When you'd see it: Anything that turns data into written text: report summaries, product descriptions, chatbot replies.

Why it matters: NLG is the producing-text half of language AI, as opposed to understanding it. Modern LLMs do it so well that the term now mostly describes the output side of these systems.
