Take It Offline

Pause a discussion happening in a group setting and continue it separately — usually a redirect away from a meeting tangent toward a smaller conversation afterward.

When you'd see it: Any meeting where the discussion drifts, becomes too detailed for the full group, or surfaces a disagreement that needs a separate conversation. 'Let's take that offline' is the polite mechanism for keeping a meeting on track without shutting down the conversation entirely.

Why it matters: The phrase does real meeting hygiene work — it separates conversations that are relevant to the group from those that are only relevant to two or three people. The failure mode is when 'take it offline' becomes a way to avoid a conversation entirely rather than reschedule it.
