Backlog

Product Backlog

The ordered list of everything that might get built, from features to fixes, kept prioritized so the team always knows what is next. Sprints pull from it.

When you'd see it: Every Scrum and Kanban team. 'It's in the backlog' means tracked but not scheduled. 'Backlog grooming' or 'refinement' is the meeting where it gets prioritized.

Why it matters: A groomed, ordered backlog is what lets a team start each sprint without re-litigating priorities. An unmanaged backlog becomes a graveyard nobody reads.

Common mistakes: Treating the backlog as a wishlist that only grows. Without pruning, it stops being a planning tool.
