Burndown Chart

A chart tracking work remaining against time, sloping down toward zero as a sprint or project progresses. Shows whether a team is on pace to finish.

When you'd see it: Scrum sprints and release tracking. A line above the ideal slope means the team is behind, below it means ahead.

Why it matters: A burndown gives an at-a-glance read on whether scope and pace are realistic, early enough to adjust. A flat line mid-sprint is an early warning.
