Kanban

An Agile method that visualizes work as cards moving across columns (To Do, In Progress, Done) and caps how much is in progress at once. Pull-based, with no fixed sprints.

When you'd see it: Support teams, ops, and any continuous-flow work. Trello and the board view in Jira are Kanban tools. Often chosen over Scrum when work arrives unpredictably.

Why it matters: Kanban exposes bottlenecks by making work-in-progress visible and limited. Capping work-in-progress is the core discipline, and the part teams most often skip.

Common mistakes: Using a board with no work-in-progress limits. Without the limits it is just a to-do list, not Kanban.
